Why another church?
We've got the numbers.
In the U.S. church today, attendance is declining. Two decades ago, an average of 42% of U.S. adults attended religious services every week or nearly every week, according to Gallup. A decade ago, the figure fell to 38%, and it is currently at 30%. Even among Protestant Christians, weekly or nearly weekly church attendance has fallen to 44%, down from 48% two decades ago.
According to Ryan Burge, denominational membership is on the decline, but “the two outliers are the Assemblies of God and the Presbyterian Church in America. They are growing faster than the natural increase in the population.”
Despite the decline, there's still hope. The Holy Spirit has been and always will be at work, and we get to participate. That, brothers and sisters, is why we are starting another church.
