Glorifying God and enjoying Him by gathering, growing, and going in Christ to make disciples.
Gathering
We are to constantly gather (hence the “ing”) as Christians that we might be encouraged by the Bible, the prayers, confession, and singing.
We will meet for weekly worship of the Triune God on Sundays
We will have occasional large gatherings of the church to foster fellowship
We will train our people on how to have “Gospel Gatherings” with others from the church and their unchurched friends.
Growing
If we have been saved, then our next step is to grow in our knowledge of who God is and what adventure he calls us into. We are to understand more fully our place in Christ’s family and our purpose.
We will have GROWTH groups that will range in size, focused study, and stage of life. This would include what is traditionally known as Sunday School, Community Groups, Book Study Groups, Bible Study Groups, etc.
We will provide weekly Family Worship Guides to our people to encourage Family Discipleship to catechize their children and themselves.
We will provide a Bible Reading Plan to our people to encourage personal devotion time in God’s Word.
Going
Just as the first person who was called to follow God and birth God’s people, Abraham, was called to get up and go, so we are called to move towards others and make disciples where we live, work, and play.
We will make praying for non-Christians an essential part of all of our meetings as staff, lay leaders, and growth groups. We will not lose sight of the lost.
We will train our people through growth group opportunities and staff and leadership development on how to build relationships with non-Christians.
We will train our people on how to have “Gospel Gatherings” with others from the church and their unchurched friends.
We will share testimonies when appropriate for those who have come to faith or are sharing their faith.
We will baptize those new to the faith as well as children of faith families.
We will commission our people often as a part of the benediction.
in Christ
This is so important! If we do these things (gathering, growing, and going) in our own efforts we will be overcome with pride if we think we are succeeding, or overwhelming pressure if we think we are not doing it good enough. Keeping our identity secure IN CHRIST means that we see the privilege of serving Him and not the pressure that is self-inflicted.
